Subsidiary Companies
Vardoger LLC - Creator of the Sound Bear-ier
Tributary Research Consulting established a new partnership with Vardoger LLC. Our goal is to develop a wearable ultrasonic device (“The Sound Bear-ier”) that alerts wild animals of your presence while you are moving through the backcountry. The key technology is the ultrasonic frequency and pattern that is emitted; the bears can hear a very unnatural sound broadcasting in front of you, but human ears cannot hear the frequency at all. Think of it like a bear bell (that actually works!), but it’s completely silent to human ears.
Tributary Research Consulting is overseeing field testing on real bears in Alaska, with a goal of publishing a scientific study to demonstrate the product's efficacy. We believe that this technology has strong potential to reduce human-wildlife conflicts, and especially keep people safe with a preventative strategy that saves the humans and the bears.
